Marine Corps Base Quantico is home to the Marine Corps Combat Development Command and numerous tenant organizations. The base staff providesinfrastructure, operational, and community services support to these organizations and to the military members, families, and civilians who live and work on base. The base is also a key player in support ofoverall Marine Corps objectives and programs, and plays host to scores of training events, conferences, symposia, and other special events.

Quantico is conveniently accessed by Interstate 95 and there are two airports nearby: Dulles International in Centreville, and Ronald Reagan Washington National in Washington, D.C. Other transportation includes a bus terminal in nearby Triangle as well as Amtrak (800) 872-7245 and Virginia Railway Express (800) RIDE-VRE train services.

Reporting In
All Marines reporting in during normal working hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, check in at the Installation Personnel Administration Center at Headquarters and Service Battalion on Barnett Avenue. Phone number: (703) 784-4466.

If arriving after duty hours, check in with the Area Officer of the Day located at Headquarters and Service Battalion, Building 2006. Phone number: (703) 784-2261.

Navy personnel report to the Navy Personnel Office annotated in their orders; after hours arrivals will report to the information desk in the Naval Medical Clinic. Phone number: (703) 784-1699.

Officers and staff noncommissioned officers requiring bachelor housing must report to the Bachelor Housing Office in Liversedge Hall forassignment. Phone number: (703) 784-3149.

Finance
The Finance Office, in Little Hall, provides payroll services for all Marines aboard Quantico and Henderson Hall in Arlington.

Office Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 8 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Phone numbers: (703) 784-3193⁄2400 or DSN 278-2145.

The Civilian Payroll Office is in Lejeune Hall, 3250 Catlin Ave. Phone numbers: (703) 784-4658⁄4312 or DSN 278-4658.

Public Affairs
The public affairs office mission is to provide timely and accurate information to base military members and thegeneral public about the mission, organization and performance of the base and its tenant commands in order tofoster good relations with the local community and inform the public of the base’s contributions to national security.

The public affairs office passes information through avariety of channels, including its community relationsprogram, which aims to develop mutually beneficialrelationships with local communities, and the Quantico Sentry command newspaper, the authorized, unofficialpublication of MCB Quantico. The Sentry is publishedweekly with a circulation of 15,000.

Service members, civilian employees, and familymembers are invited to submit articles for inclusion in the Sentry. Sentry content does not necessarily reflect theofficial views or endorsement of content by the Department of Defense. For more information, call (703) 784-2741.

Post Offices
A civilian post office is located in the Town of Quantico at 400 5th Ave. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. There are other post offices located in the towns of Triangle and Stafford. All post offices are closed on Sunday and holidays. For more information, call (703) 640-7405 or (800) 275-8777.

Vehicle, Pet and Weapons Registration
All service members, civilian employees, and government contractors working aboard MCB Quantico must register their vehicles with the Military Police Services, Vehicle, Pet and Weapons Registration Office located at 2043 Barnett Ave. This must be done within five business days of arrival. The following items are required: DoD identification card, valid state driver’s license, state vehicle registration, and proof of insurance with policy number and expiration date.

All military personnel under 26 years of age must complete a driver’s improvement course to obtain permanent base driving privileges. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Phone number: (703) 784-3336.

Motorcycles, mopeds, scooters and ATVs must meet the same requirements for registration as other vehicles. Individuals registering these vehicles must provide a valid operator’s license. All personnel must complete a motorcycle safety course prior to obtaining a permanent base decal.

All dogs and cats must be registered within 10 days of their arrival on base or after reaching the age of 4 months. Wild animals or exotic pets are prohibited. Certification of rabies vaccination is required. Call (703) 784-3336 forinformation on registering pets.

All privately owned weapons of personnel living on base must be registered. Phone: (703) 784-3336. Please do not bring pets or weapons to the registration office.

Trailers, oversize trucks and recreational vehicles must be registered and kept in the assigned lot at Lunga Park or by the Interstate 95 and Russell Road interchange. For space, call (703) 784-2359 Monday through Friday from9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Household Goods
If expecting a shipment of personal property, call the Traffic Management Office located at 2009 Zeilin Rd:

Lodging
The Crossroads Inn offers “home away from home“ accommodations: 78 comfortable rooms, 24 two-room suites and 42 efficiencies. For those traveling with small children there is a playground onsite. DEERS⁄ID Center
Quantico’s Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System⁄Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System Identification Card Center is currently operating under thefollowing schedule:

  • Monday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Thursday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Additionally, the DEERS⁄ RAPIDS ID Card Center has implemented a ‘‘by appointment” policy as well as the current ‘‘walk-in” policy. Customers may call (703) 784-2750 toschedule an appointment. The center will continue to support ‘‘walk-in” customers; however, emphasis will be placed on those customers who have made appointments, which could lead to excessive wait-times for ‘‘walk-in” customers.

HEALTH & FITNESS

Dental Clinic
The main dental clinic is located on the second floor in the south end of the Naval Health Clinic. Other clinics on base are located at The Basic School in the Ray Hall Medical⁄Dental Clinic and the Marine Corps Air Facility, Building 2100. Military personnel are provided complete dental services, although some specialty care may require referrals to other military or civilian clinics. Routine examinations, annual Deployment Health Screenings, Active Duty sick call services and records check-in⁄check-out are available daily from 7:30 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 2 p.m. Due to current military dental readiness and health requirements, family members and retirees are not routinely seen. Family members and retirees are encouraged to use their respective TRICARE Dental Plans for their dental health needs. Individuals with emergency dental problems requiring immediate attention on weekends, holidays or after 3:30 p.m. on normal workdays may receive treatment at Potomac or Mary Washington Hospitals’ emergency rooms.

Naval Health Clinic
The primary source of medical care for Marine Corps Base is the Naval Health Clinic, Quantico, located at 3259 Catlin Ave., near Lejeune Hall, the Marine Corps Base headquarters. The clinic does not have emergency medical services available. Life threatening injuries and illnesses that require immediate treatment should be evaluated at the nearest emergency room, and can be accessed by dialing 911. If you are enrolled in TRICARE Prime you must call (877) TRICARE (874-2273) for authorization for acute out-of-the-area medical care. The mission of the clinic is to provide and coordinate health care and wellness services for active duty members to maximize readiness. The clinic provides services to all eligible beneficiaries who have enrolled in TRICARE Prime at NHCL Quantico. Normal operating hours for the clinic are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday with the exception of Thursday. Command training is conducted Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The clinic has limited after-hours services Monday through Friday 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday closed. The clinic has thefollowing medical specialists: family practice, primary care, pediatrics, sports medicine, flight surgeon, internal medicine, mental health, optometry, occupational⁄preventive medicine, radiology, social services and physical therapy. Visiting physicians from the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, and other military treatment facilities provide specialty care on a limited basis in cardiology, pediatric urology, endocrinology, ENT, hematology⁄oncology,neurology, OB⁄GYN, occupational therapy, ophthalmology, dermatology, orthopedics, podiatry, prenatal care,pulmonary, and rheumatology. All appointments for specialists are by referral only. The clinic has a toll-free phone line at 1- (888) 784-1802.

Housing
The Family Housing Office located in Building 3049 offers on-base quarters and off-base referral services. Quantico quarters feature two, three, and four-bedroom homes. Service members are assigned housingaccording to rank, number of family members, Exceptional Family Member Program status, and home availability. Service members must send a housing application (DD Form 1746) and a copy of detachment orders to be placed on the waiting list prior to reporting in. If a member has reported aboard, he or she must present a copy of the reporting endorsement, or a memorandum for housingpurposes only.

The date of detachment from the previous duty station is used to establish the effective control date for the waiting list, provided application is made within 30 calendar days after officially reporting aboard, and will also be used when checking in for housing purposes only. A Public-Private Venture Partnership was formed in October 2003 to redevelop the housing inventory aboard Quantico. The homes on the base are now owned and professionally managed by Lincoln Military Housing (LMH). Once housing applications are processed by the Family Housing Office, homes are assigned by LMH staff. Leases are required with a minimum six-month commitment, and a 30-day written notice is required prior to the date quarters are vacated. The LMH management staff is located at the Family Housing Office for a one-stop process for military families. YOUTH & TEEN PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Child Development Services
Located at Building 3311, the CDC offers three types of child care: full-day care for children ages 13 months to 5, part-day preschool for ages 3 and 4, and hourly care. The hourly-care program provides care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age on a space-available basis. Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance. Classrooms accommodate children according to their age, developmental age and any special needs. The CDC is DoD, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAYEC) certified and a USDA sponsored program that ensures your child receives healthy nutritional meals. Family Child Care Program
Family Child Care providers are family members who are certified by the command to provide childcare in family housing units aboard Quantico. All providers are screened and trained to ensure our parents and children areprovided the highest quality care. FCC homes offer care in a small, family type setting. Each FCC home is unique in its own way, providing parents with a wide selection of home care settings from which to choose. Full time infant care from 6 weeks up to 23 months is available through FCC. However, when an infant in a home reaches the age of 13 months they are eligible for full time care at the Child Development Center.

Youth and Teen
Located in Building 3312, the Youth Center has become a focal point for youth activities aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. The youth and teen program is affiliated with The Boys and Girls Club of America and offers a variety ofactivities to children ages 6-18. The program instills a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence and competence by providing the young people with one-on-one relationships with caring, adult professionals and fun, age-appropriate, well-rounded programming. Activities specific to age groups include arts and crafts, games, sports and many special events. Theme dances and group excursions are extremely popular.

The Cave is Quantico’s gathering place for teens, grades 9-12. Located on the basement level of Little Hall, Building 2034. ‘‘The Cave” is open on Friday and Saturday evenings from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and offers kids a place to play pool or video games, watch television, listen to music or just hnag out with friends. Schools
The Virginia Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools are operated by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). The threeelementary schools and one middle⁄high school at Quantioc are accredited by North Central Association Commission on Accreditatation and School Improvement. All teachers are certified. The family housing area determines school assignment at Russell elementary schools.

There are many off-base public schools in thesurrounding counties of Stafford and Prince William. Prince William County also has several specialeducation schools. As well, there are a number ofprivate and parochial schools in the area.
