Commander’s Welcoming Remarks
Welcome to the National Naval Medical Center – the Flagship of Navy Medicine. It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve you as the 37th Commander. NNMC is a world-renowned, state of the art healthcare institution. It is staffed by many of the world’s best-trained medical practitioners.

Welcome to the National Naval Medical Center
The National Naval Medical Center is one of the largest and most renowned military medical centers in the world. Best known for caring for our country’s Presidents and other national leaders for more than 65 years, NNMC also prides itself on restoring the health and well-being of our wounded war heroes.

What’s New?
ational Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Center announced integrated clinic chiefs for the Dermatology and Pathology Departments. Army Col. Stephen Krivda will lead Dermatology and Army Col. Thomas Baker will lead Pathology Department.

Wounded Warrior Care
At the National Naval Medical Center, our wounded heroes are in the trusted hands of an expert medical staff.

Our Priority
The services offered at NNMC are specially designed to promote ‘‘Family-Centered Care,” an approach to the planning, delivery and evaluation of health care to encourage partnerships among our providers, patients and their families.

All About TRICARE
Tricare is the health benefit for all seven uniformed services: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

NNMC Organization
We are organized along Service Lines. Our organizational style gives staff a direct line to the Board of Directors and the opportunity to organize in ways that are practical and efficient.

Patient Services
The Adolescent Medicine Clinic provides primary and specialty care in preventive health services, health promotion, illness and injury diagnosis and treatment, adolescent gynecology, sports physicals and psychosocial support for teens and young adults ages 12 to 23 years.

Our Branch Health Clinics
NNMC operates 15 outlying clinics in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Many of these are primary care clinics, (patients may enroll in Tricare Prime at these locations). To make appointments at any of the designated Primary Care Clinics, call (301) 295-NAVY or (866) NAVY-MED.

Report to the office below for your specific command. After an initial check in, you may be directed to the Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) for processing of your personnel and pay records.

Bethesda: The Big Picture
The Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI) is home to the Defense Department’s Medical Radiological Defense Research Program. Chartered in 1961 to study the biological effects of ionizing radiation, the Institute's mission today focuses on developmental and applied research leading to effective medical countermeasures against ionizing radiation.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that provides relief and services to all active duty military service members, retirees, patients, and their families.

Services and Specialty Assistance
The U.S. Postal Service is located on Main Street, next to Postal Operations (military mailroom), room 1432. Postal Operations acts as the consolidating point for all official mail processing and distribution for NNMC and tenant commands as well as personal mail delivery for barrack quarters residents.

Graduate Education and Research
NNMC promotes professional growth and development of our providers-in-training in our Graduate Education & Research programs by supporting high-quality research and clinical trials in conjunction with some of the world’s finest medical centers.

Navy Exchange Services
NNMC's Navy Exchange (NEX) is a quality, full-line retail and services complex and is the largest Navy Exchange in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The NEX offers consumer goods and services at a savings to eligible customers, and provides financial support for Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) activities and programs.

MWR Serves You!
Located just around the corner from Main Street, the MWR InfoCenter answers all your recreational needs. You can learn about the interesting classes, exciting fun runs, and adventurous trips offered by MWR.

Local Area Attractions
The cool thing about living here is...There is so much to see and do in the city of Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas of Maryland and Northern Virginia. The National Capital Area is one of the most exciting places in our great country!
