Runners will love the musically magical experience of RunStock, an evening 5K race with on-course entertainment and a post-race concert, to be held on August 23 beginning at 7:15 p.m. at Barnett Field on Marine Corps Base Quantico.
The 5K course includes a scenic journey through Marine Corps University and the Town of Quantico, the only town in the U.S. to be completely surrounded by a military reservation. Runners can expect a moderately easy course with rolling hills.
Post race, participants can relax with family and friends and enjoy local band Gonzo’s Nose. Formed in 1996, Gonzo’s Nose has carved a niche for themselves in the D.C. music scene. Their extensive song list features high energy songs covering a variety of musical styles over three decades including Duran Duran, The Police, Madonna, The Cars, Wham, and Prince.
‘‘Runners are sure to enjoy this family-friendly event,” said Rick Nealis, Race Director. ‘‘The combination of fantastic local entertainment and a 5K road race create a unique running experience that participants will love.”
