Walk to Fitness
MCCS Semper Fit Walk to Fitness, a six-week walking program, is under way. Participants can join any time and receive a logbook and pedometer to track their steps. The person with the most steps each week wins a gift card. The top four overall steppers win prizes. Entry is free. Sign up at the Semper Fit office in Keith Hall. 703-697-2706.

SMP Paintball
SMP goes to Outdoor Adventure for paintball July 12. The $25 fee includes transportation, semi-automatic paintball marker, and 500 paintballs. Sign up by July 2 by calling 703-614-4947.

Pool Open
The Henderson Hall Pool is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. ñ 8 p.m., Sunday and holidays noon to 6 p.m. Department of Defense identification card holders and their guests are welcome. The pool is free. 703-693-6886.

Transition Classes
TAP classes for separating Marines and their family members are scheduled June 23-26, 8:30 a.m. ñ 4 p.m. in Bldg. 29, Rm. 104. Attend for information on employment, training, benefits, and entitlements. Registration is required. 703-614-9278.

ìJuly Justiceî
Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 19, 6 p.m., when MCCS Semper Fit presents an amateur boxing event. Doors open at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be sold. Entry is $7; children under 10 enter free. Tickets are available at Smith Gym, the Semper Fit office in Keith Hall, and at ITT in the Marine Corps Exchange. 703-697-2706.

School-age Summer Camp Assistance
Funding is available to assist Marine families with summer camp school-age care costs. 703-614-7332.

Upcoming MCCS Tours

  • Saturday, July 19, go to Atlantic City, New Jersey. The bus departs Quantico Marine Base at 7:15 a.m., Henderson Hall at 8 a.m. Activities in Atlantic City include beach, boardwalk, and casinos. The fee is $55 for transportation.

  • Thursday-Saturday, August 7 ñ 9, go to the Virginia Highlands Festival in Abingdon. This trip to the Appalachian foothills includes entertainment, shopping, the festival, theater to see ìEvitaî and ìHeaven Sent,î and lodging at the Martha Washington Inn. $708 single, $569 twin per person.

  • Monday-Friday, August 11 ñ 15, go to Cape Cod and the island of Massachusetts. Tour includes lodging, dinner train, train trips, ferry to Nantucket and Marthaís Vineyard, dune ride, and more. $1725 single, $1250 twin per person.

    Golf Scramble
    The next monthly ìGolf with Usî scramble is Thursday, July 17, 8 a.m., at The Gauntlet Golf Club. Active duty pay $20; all others pay $40. Fee includes green fees, cart, and post-event luncheon. Sign up by July 11 by calling 703-697-2706.

    Tests Offered
    Lifelong Learning offers a variety of testing services, including the Test of Adult Basic Education, the American College Test, and the Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB).
