Rader Clinic hours July 7
Fort Myer’s Andrew Rader US Army Health Clinic will operate with some reductions in services from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 7.
Behavioral Health, Primary Care, Pediatrics, Lab, Pharmacy and Radiology will all be open under the reduced hours; all other clinics will be closed.
This is a reduced duty day after the Friday, July 4 federal.

Semper Fit!
Free fitness classes for DoD ID card holders are ongoing each morning in Henderson Hall’s Smith Gym.
Also ‘‘Walk to Fitness” has begun, but register anytime and start any time. Enjoy free pedometer, giveaways, plus friendly walks with colleagues.
Next, July 19 see the ‘‘July Justice” amateur boxing event. Tickets are $7 at Semper Fit, Smith Gym and the tour and travel office. Children under 10 are free.

Senior Leader Development
On July 8, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Pentagon Conference Center, Room B6, the Joint Leader Development Office of the Civilian Personnel Management Service will hold an informational briefing on the Department’s new Defense Senior Leader Development Program (DSLDP).
The program is intended to develop a cadre of world-class senior civilian leaders with the enterprise-wide perspective and the critical skills needed to excel in the 21st century joint, interagency and multi-national environment.
This is an opportunity for senior leaders who are considering nominating individuals — and those who might be nominated — to get more specific information about the program while the window for applications is open.
There will be a question and answer period. The program is open to NSPS payband 3 or GS-14⁄15 and equivalent eligibles.
ACS investment seminar
ACS financial readiness is hosting a Financial Presentation by Securities and Exchange Commissioner Paul Atkins.
He is going to speak to Fort Myer and MDW Soldiers, families and civilian employees about the financial readiness of our military and the stock market, investments, current mortgage crisis and the economic outlook with regards to our financial futures on July 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fort Myer Community Center.

Daddy boot camp
Army Community Services Family Advocacy Office is offering a free class for first-time dads to help prepare for fatherhood. This three-session class will be held on July 10, 17 and 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fort Myer Community Center (Bldg. 405).
Session 1 will focus on becoming a dad; session 2 will address caring for baby and hands on training; and session 3 will discuss caring for mom, wrap-up and graduation.
Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive the book: ‘‘Be Prepared — A Practical Handbook for New Dads.”

Buses to Walter Reed
Metro Bus transportation is available from the Takoma Park Metro Station to Walter Reed Army Medical Center Monday through Friday.
To ride, get a bus transfer before leaving the station and take the K-1 or K-2 bus during rush hour. During non-rush hours, take the 52 or 54 bus. Bus fares require exact change.
There is also a shuttle bus that runs from Fort Belvoir to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. This bus is available to personnel who hold a Department of Defense ID card.
The bus departs from DeWitt Army Medical Center at 8:15 a.m., departs Fort Myer’s Rader Clinic at 9 a.m. and arrives at Walter Reed at 10 a.m. The next departure from DeWitt is 11:55 a.m. Fort Myer at 12:15 p.m., arriving at Walter Reed at 1:15 p.m.

Parenting teenagers
Teenagers today face many pressures, dilemmas and stressors. Parenting our teens can be very challenging in today’s times. Drugs, sexuality, responsibilities, competitive educational requirements are just a few of the factors in our teens lives.
Army Community Service’s Family Advocacy Program is offering a free class for parents of teenagers utilizing Dr. Michael Popkin’s Active Parenting of Teens curriculum.
The program has 6 sessions, each with reading materials, video presentations, exercises and discussion. Each participant will receive a parent handbook. The classes will be held July 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5, and 12.
