The Fort Detrick community is invited to attend the Fort Detrick Thrift Shop⁄Fort Detrick Community Auxilliary scholarship award ceremony July 22 at 1:30 p.m.

The committee will present two $1,000 scholarships at the Fort Detrick Thrift Shop. Light refreshments will be provided.

POSH Training

The Medical Command requires civilians and military personnel take POSH training. There are two parts, online training and face-to-face training.

Take the online prevention of sexual harassment training on the Detrick Center for Training and Education Excellence Web site.

There will be two sessions. Both sessions will be held at Strough Auditorium for garrison and U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command employees.

The first is July 23 from 9-11 a.m. and the second is July 30 from 1-3 p.m.

Barquist Health Clinic closures

Barquist Health Clinic will be closed July 4 and Aug. 29.

The clinic will be closed for training from noon until 4:30 p.m. July 18 and Aug. 15.

School and sports physicals

Students can receive their school⁄sports physicals at Barquist Army Health Clinic in the afternoons Aug. 13-14 and 21-22. The clinic is open Saturday mornings on Aug. 23 and Sept. 6.

Patients need shot records and any required school or sports forms that need to be completed.

Motorcycle forum

Fort Detrick will conduct a motorcycle safety forum and host a ‘‘Bring Your Bike to Work Day” July 8 at the Odom Fitness Center.

Activities will start at 2 p.m. All Fort Detrick employees who ride motorcycles are encouraged to attend.

Military personnel who currently ride or are considering becoming motorcycle riders are required to attend.

Properly licensed motorcyclists will be allowed to come on post with or without the installation decal.

Thrift Shop happenings

July 8 - 30 there will be a Christmas in July sale.

The Thrift Shop is located, S-11 Porter St. is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Summer items can be consigned until July 30. New consignor’s should call (301) 619-2289 for an appointment. Items can be consigned from 10-2, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
