Rabies clinic
Second Hope Rescue will hold its monthly rabies clinic July 13, 1 - 3 p.m. at Dr. Guyther’s veterinary office in the Bear Creek Shopping Center in Callaway. Rabies shots will be $7, and canine and feline distemper shots will be $10. Microchipping will also be available. Call 240-925-0628 for more information.

Nature Time at Greenwell

River Concert Friday
The Chesapeake Orchestra and guest jazz vocalist Hilary Kole will perform a patriotic concert Friday at St. Mary’s College. The performance will include the 1812 Overture (complete with fireworks show), Sousa marches, and Joplin ragtime tunes. Kole will perform classic American songs by Gershwin, Kern, Porter and others The grounds open at 5 p.m. with the free concert at 7 p.m. Call 240-895-2024 for more information.

‘‘Seussical” in St. Mary’s County
The Broadway musical ‘‘Seussical” will be this year’s production of the St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks Dept. Summerstock. Based on the works of Dr. Seuss, it features a score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. It will be performed at Great Mills High School July 18-20 and 24-27. Thursday-Saturday evenings are at 7 p.m., with Sundays at 5 p.m., and cost $14 for ages 11-adult, $12 for senior citizens and $4 for children. Freedom Fest in St. Mary’s
Freedom Fest in Leonardtown will be Saturday at the county fair grounds, featuring an evening of family fun starting at 5 p.m. and culminating with a fireworks display. It is part of a holiday celebration that includes a free concert by the Mid-Atlantic National Guard Band July 2 at the Leonardtown Square, a ‘‘Jazzy 4th” River concert at St. Mary’s College, and the annual Independence Concert at Sotterley Plantation July 6. Independence Day at Sotterley
The Independence Day Celebration Concert at Historic Sotterley will be Sunday, 1-4 p.m. on the front lawn of the mansion. Featured will be a concert by the Chesapeake Orchestra Brass Quintet. Sharkfest returns
‘‘Sharkfest” will return to the Calvert Marine Museum July 12, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Visitors will be able to touch the rough hide of a shark in the shark touch tank, have their pictures taken in the jaws of a Giant Megalodon Shark skeleton, and learn about the history of the world in the museum’s new paleontology hall. Greenwell yard sale
